Lemonade with a Tart

Okay so I totally took the weekend off considering it was the fourth of July and to be honest, Steve Roger’s birthday. Yes I’m a Captain America fan and I will proudly admit I was celebrating both holidays yesterday!

Well in amongst my mother and mine’s run to town this past Friday for the holiday weekend, we decided to make a detour to our local curb market. Most of the things you find there are fresh as they’re brought in from the Amish and Mennonite communities that live around the Florence, Alabama, area. Well we stopped by ours and did some shopping which included my latest obsession with perfecting my lemonade that I make.

Now yes, I totally admit that I use Country Time lemonade powder mix to make my lemonade because it takes far too many lemons being squeezed to make any amount of lemonade. Plus if I had to squeeze lemons every time I wanted lemonade, I would probably go insane. But lately, even with having cut down on the amount of sugar I add to the mix, my lemonade has not been coming out as tart tasting as I like it to. I’m the same way when I make a lemon icebox pie. I like anything with lemon in the name to have a small bite to it.

So I was thinking while we were at the market, why not try adding fresh squeezed lemon juice into the lemonade while mixing the powder as well? So we picked about four or five lemons up and when I got home I made me a half gallon of lemonade!

This is the first recipe I’m sharing here on the blog and I’m hoping that eventually I’ll be able to not only include the recipes but also do recipe vlogs and link them over here! It’s a slow moving process until I get settled into a job, but for now enjoy my “Tart Lemonade” recipe!

The perfect lemonade for those who like it with a bite!

Obviously not all Southern Belles make their lemonade the old fashioned way, and I’m honestly not one of those to 100% follow a recipe so this is the perfect for those who want their lemonade a bit more tart than normal. If one lemon isn’t enough, then I highly suggest juicing two.
